Lush, green shade border

(in my own garden)
Originally designed to green up the space beneath a Crataegus tree which has subsequently died. I have chosen not to replace the tree and instead introduce a willow trellis for some screening and allowing more light into the rest of the garden. A woodland-style scheme using herbaceous perennials.

A lushious evergreen border that ties in the vegetable beds with the rest of the garden. The plants have been chosen for the mostly shady aspect and to cope with the improved clay soil that gets quite wet in winter.

The climbing rose is pre-existing from before the garden was cleared and was trained along metal wires for the last couple of years. Some strawberries and self-seeded plants are allowed to stay around the raised beds, creating a more natural look and anchoring the beds in the garden.

The colour scheme is a lushious green, with some yellow flowers and the silver foliage of the Alchemilla mollis (Lady’s Mantle)
