Hi, I’m Teresa,

I am a horticulturalist and garden designer based in Henley-on-Thames and I help transform gardens into naturalistic outdoor spaces, places to relax in and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of the surrounding garden.

By combining my passion for herbaceous plants with my own experience of feeling calmer and more at ease when being out in nature I aim to create green spaces that allow you to enjoy the benefits to your wellbeing while also being functional, structured and beautiful. Designs rich in planting, inspired by naturalistic planting styles help to bring the benefits of nature into the garden space by mimicking them but allowing design principles to adapt them to a garden setting, introducing order.

My approach is intentional, structured and honest which is reflected in your experience working with me but also in that of your finished garden.

I offer Maintenance & Planting Advice as well as Planting Design in addition to Garden Design as I aim to cater not only to people seeking a full (re-)design of their garden but also to those with smaller projects or established gardens that might require some TLC.

My way via horticulture into garden design

It was during my time at university in Berlin, studying for a Bachelor Degree in Chemistry that I decided to take a gap year, travelling the UK and volunteering with organic smallholdings. I enjoyed working in small, productive gardens so much, that when it was time to go back to university, I decided to stay on in the UK instead and eventually found employment with a local Wholesale Plant Nursery that specialised in selling herbaceous perennials to garden- and landscape designers. In the evenings I studied for my RHS Level 2 and later Level 3 qualifications alongside learning about propagating plants and plant husbandry at the nursery. It was a steep learning curve. When it was time to move on, I started working in garden maintenance as a freelancer, at the beginning together with other gardeners, but I quickly set myself up with my own clients, specialising in border maintenance and work requiring my horticultural knowledge, for example pruning shrubs or roses or dividing herbaceous perennials.

Through my gardening work I was often approached with questions ranging from plant choices for a border to designing or redesigning the planting of one or multiple borders, clients asking me to reshape borders and paths to make them fit in better, laying stepping stones. It sparked an interest in wanting to learn more about the landscaping and design side of horticulture and eventually led me to signing up to a garden design course which led to a Diploma in Garden Design. I was curious about the idea of garden design and was looking for strategies and methods that would help me in creating professional scale plants and allow me to offer advice and designs in a more professional way. The course definitely delivered on that and so much more, I also discovered my love for working with 3D modelling software which you might have noticed throughout the website.

So I set up my garden design business where I combine my passion for horticulture and acquired design skills to help people create their own green oasis and offer full garden design services but also options if you only require some advice or would only like a planting plan for your garden.

If you haven’t done so already, take a look at  a detailed description of what I am offering .
